Starwood Hotels & Resorts appoints David Connor Area Managing Director for Eastern CanadaDavid Connor returns to Canada in dual role as Area Managing Director of Eastern Canada and General Manager of the flagship Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel

Colleen Keating, senior vice president of operations for Starwood Hotels & Resorts announced the appointment of David Connor as area managing director for Eastern Canada and General Manager of the 1,377 room Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel. In this role, he will be charged with managing operations, sales and marketing for the hotel as well as oversee the operations of six Starwood owned, managed and joint-venture hotels in Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal. This marks his return to Canada, where he began his 22 year career with Starwood.

Most recently Connor was the General Manager of The Westin Boston Waterfront joining the hotel prior to the opening in 2005. During his time at the hotel he was nominated for General Manager of the Year in 2011 and 2012 by the American Hotel and Lodging Association (AH&LA) and awarded 2011 Chief Sales Officer of the Year by Starwood.

In addition to the Sheraton Centre Toronto, Connor’s portfolio includes The Westin Harbour Castle and Sheraton Gateway Hotel in Toronto, The Westin Ottawa, Le Centre Sheraton Montreal and W Montréal.

Connor’s journey with Starwood Hotels continues in Canada having previously held the position of General Manager at The Westin Calgary. While in Calgary he was an active member of the community, serving on the executive board of Tourism Calgary and the Calgary Children’s Foundation. He began his career with Starwood at Le Centre Sheraton Montreal, where he held a number of positions culminating with the role of Hotel Manager. He also held the position of General Manager at the Hilton Sonoma County, which was owned by Starwood Hotels.

Connor received the Certified Rooms Division Executive (CRDE) designation from the American Hotel and Motel Association at the University of Michigan. He also received an MBA from Concordia University in Montreal. He has a passion for cycling and has participated for the last 3 years as a part of Team Starwood on the Ride to Cure Cancer riding 250 km from Montreal to Quebec City.
