Canada’s premier international tourism marketplace heads to Montréal in 2016

Tourisme Québec and Tourisme Montréal clinch competitive bid to host the 40th iteration of Rendez-vous Canada.

Canada’s top international tourism marketplace is heading to Montréal, QC, in 2016. The Palais des congrès de Montréal will be transformed into a hive of tourism-business activity April 24-27,2016, for the 40th iteration of Rendez-vous Canada (RVC), the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC)’s flagship event. Tourism Quebec and Tourisme Montréal won the competitive bid to acts as hosts.

Hundreds of the most influential global travel buyers from more than 20 countries will meet with Canadian sellers to check out the latest tourism products and services, broker deals and close sales.

These thousands of one-to-one appointments generate hundreds of millions of dollars of revenue for Canadian tourism businesses, which help to grow the $88.5 billion industry and to support the 619,000 Canadian jobs that depend on tourism.

“Montréal is world renowned for its fashion, food, arts and culture, as well as its unique and authentic tourism experiences,” says David Goldstein, CTC president and CEO. “We’re thrilled to have this city and province in the spotlight for the hundreds of global buyers and media who will gather here in 2016 as the momentum in tourism growth continues its upward trend.”

The international visitor economy sees travellers spend $3 billion a day, helping to make tourism one of the largest and fastest-growing economic sectors in the world.

“Tourisme Montréal is proud to host Rendez-vous Canada, a major event that will put the spotlight on our destination,” says Yves Lalumière, president and CEO at Tourisme Montréal. “We are confident that the tourism industry professionals coming from 28 countries to attend Rendez-vous Canada will be delighted by their visit to Montreal in April 2016. I want to acknowledge the collaboration with the ministère du Tourisme du Québec who actively participated in Montréal’s bid.”
