Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel recognized for conservation by Toronto Hydro

Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel was recently applauded by Toronto Hydro for its ongoing proactive energy management and conservation efforts. As such, Toronto Hydro bestowed the hotel with a new designation – Customer for Conversation.

The hotel implemented variable frequency drives on its cold water booster pumps and upgraded lighting with high efficiency bulbs and devices. Late last year, the hotel completed a $13 million project that replaced all the windows and caulking in the 43-storey Queen Tower, and 11-storey Richmond Tower hotel.

These conservation efforts by the hotel team, with the encouragement of Toronto Hydro, resulted in a total of 725,149 kWh of annual electricity savings based on saveONenergyOM program verifications. This is equivalent to saving approximately 2,287 trees. Additionally, the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel received a cheque from Toronto Hydro in the amount of $160,590.90. This amount was based on incentives offered by saveONenergyOM for implementation of proactive energy management and conversation projects.
