Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge, a luxury resort on Vancouver Island, has been named in Condé Nast Traveler’s prestigious Gold List for 2023.
Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge rests on the banks of Clayoquot Sound and offers an escape to the still, tranquil beauty of Canada’s remote wilderness. Accessible only by seaplane, the journey to Clayoquot is symbolic of a real departure from the everyday. Set among magnificent conifer forests, the lodge offers guests an unforgettable experience of the landscape and its wildlife with adventure-filled days and fine local dining.
The lodge has 25 ‘deluxely appointed’ white canvas tents, including Rainforest Deluxe or Ensuite, Waterfront Deluxe or Ensuite and Hillside Family, all in turn-of-the-century prospector style.
The smallest tent measures 517 square feet, according to online suite descriptions, while the largest measures 1238 square feet.
Selected by Condé Nast editors, the 2023 Gold List is a curation of the favourite hotels around the world that exemplify the gold standard of service and hospitality. The 2023 Gold List consist of selections made by editors across Condé Nast Traveler editions around the world, including India, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Baillie Lodges chief operating officer Craig Bradbery said the recognition was a welcome tribute to the Clayoquot team who delivered a highly personalized experience of the magnificent Vancouver Island.
“It’s wonderful for to have guests come and experience the magic of Clayoquot Sound, to encounter wildlife from back bears and sealions to whales and orcas and to spend time with the ones who matter most,” he said.
Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge was the only hotel or resort in Canada to be featured on this year’s list, alongside places like Halekulani in Waikiki, Hawaii; Commodore Perry Estate in Austin, Texas; and Ocean House in Watch Hill, Rhode Island.
