Botanist Bar in Vancouver has been awarded the Michter’s Art of Hospitality Award 2023 by North America’s 50 Best Bars Academy. The prestigious award was created to recognize the importance of hospitality in the industry and distinguishes one bar that offered a world-class hospitality experience during the voting period.
Mark Sansom, content director for North America’s 50 Best Bars, said: “The Canadian bar community has forged a culture of exceptional hospitality that Botanist Bar exemplifies. Located at the far Western edge of the continent, the bar welcomes locals and travelers alike, with the bar team giving their all every shift to guarantee a memorable and bespoke experience for each guest. This nurturing approach to hospitality extends to the bar team itself, which enjoys a three-day weekend on average to help maintain a healthy work-life balance. In the cocktail world of cold hands and warm hearts, Botanist Bar is a shining example and a deserved recipient of the Michter’s Art of Hospitality Award.”
Botanist Bar, led under the guidance of creative beverage director Grant Sceney, and spearheaded by head bartender Jeff Savage, is located in the award-winning Botanist restaurant. Inspired by the principles of botany, Botanist Bar celebrates the Pacific Northwest’s unique biodiversity in its approach; culinary-forward cocktails blend the union of science and nature together to deliver a sophisticated yet whimsical drinking experience.
“Hospitality is the true essence of everything we do at Botanist and lays the foundation for every decision we make,” said Savage. “Winning the Michter’s Art of Hospitality Award is a distinct and humbling honour and we celebrate this with our entire team.
The Michter’s Art of Hospitality Award was introduced by 50 Best in 2020 to recognize bars offering outstanding service. This year, 260 members of North America’s 50 Best Bars Academy voted on their single-best hospitality experience during the 18-month voting period.
“The experiences we create at Botanist allow us to guide guests through the bounty of the Pacific Northwest,” said Grant Sceney, creative beverage director of Fairmont Pacific Rim. “Each drink we offer shares a unique story; from the root of the ingredient sources to the elements involved in composing each drink, it allows those who sit with us at the bar to engage in interesting conversation and learn something new.”
