Michelin Guide Recognizes B.C. Hotels

The Michelin Guide has recognized 11 B.C. hotels among the 33 outstanding hotels in Canada with One, Two, and Three Key distinctions.

Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge was one of only two properties in Canada to receive the Three Keys honour in 2024 and one of just 10 properties in the United States, Mexico and Canada to be awarded the prestigious status in this, the inaugural Michelin Keys selection dedicated to the region.

Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge general manager Sarah Cruse said the Michelin Three Keys award was an enormous honour for the off-grid luxury camp set on the banks of Clayoquot Sound’s picturesque inlet.

“A huge congratulations goes to the whole team at Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge for this globally revered accolade which together makes the magic happen every day for our guests in Vancouver Island’s magnificent wilderness,” she said.

Similar to the Michelin Stars that indicate the best culinary experiences, the Michelin Keys recognize places that significantly add to a traveller’s experience, with each evaluated and judged “excellent” in five categories: architecture and interior design, quality and consistency of service, overall personality and character, value for the price, and a significant contribution to the guest experience in a particular setting. Three stars signify a hotel at which guests have an “extraordinary” stay, two correspond to an “exceptional” stay and one is awarded for a “very special” stay.
