Ryan Duffy has joined the team at Watermark Beach Resort as the director of sales and marketing, effective immediately.
“I’m thrilled to welcome Ryan to the team at the resort,” said David McBean, general manager of Watermark Beach Resort. “He’s a clear leader and team builder.”
Hailing from Northern Ontario, Duffy’s career began in the hotel industry where he learned about the power of effective team building and leadership. Working in hotels from a young age, he held a variety of roles in food & beverage, sales, marketing, and in leadership.
While his roots were in hospitality, Duffy’s career took him into real estate, where he had the opportunity to further hone his skills as an award-winning realtor before joining the management teams as a managing broker and finally as area manager in Central Toronto. During the pandemic, Duffy and his partner took the opportunity to reset and move to the south Okanagan.
“Our move to the Okanagan started with a google search to find the warmest and driest part of Canada,” recalled Duffy fondly. “We’ve travelled extensively but somehow never visited the south Okanagan. We came here for seven days, and we just fell in love with the region. Osoyoos certainly earns its place as Canada’s warmest welcome.”
With over 25 years of experience in operations, advertising, marketing, and sales under his belt, and serving as the current South Okanagan Chamber of Commerce president, Duffy is well-suited for the sales and marketing director role at Watermark.
“I love working in hospitality and tourism, and I can’t think of a better place to do it,” said Duffy. “Between my role as the president of the South Okanagan Chamber of Commerce, and my new position at Watermark Beach Resort and 15 Park Bistro, I see so many opportunities to build long-lasting connections and partnerships.”
