Nestled in Western Honduras, Copán will be the ideal venue for your 2019 events

Press Release

With neoclassical architecture, narrow cobblestone streets and its proximity to the Copán Ruinas, the “Athens of the Maya World,” meeting planners should look no further than Copán, Honduras, to host their next event. This picturesque setting in the mountainous western region of the Central American country has everything needed to create an event meeting goers will not soon forget, and to accommodate larger groups, is set to debut a brand new convention centre early next year.

Marina Copán hotel offers a quaint setting for an impactful meeting, with capacity for up to 120 people. But in early 2019, Marina Copán Convention Center will open its doors to larger groups, with a capacity of up to 800 guests. The convention centre will offer transportation to and from the hotel and will be located just minutes away from the famed Mayan ruins Copán. Aside from the Marina Copán, other hotel options in the area include the Clarion Hotel Copan Ruinas and the Hotel Camino Maya.

“Honduras’ most valuable differentiator as a destination for the meetings, incentives, conference and exhibition segment, is its ability to cater to a wide variety of groups with ranging options,” said Honduras Institute of Tourism Minister-Director Emilio Silvestri. “Our country is eager to serve as a setting for unforgettable events and has the infrastructure, including region-leading conference centres and luxury hotels that are ready to host intimate groups and large-scale events.”

Copán is a great destination for history and nature lovers. In addition to the Maya ruins, it is home to the Cathedral of Saint Rose — one of the most beautiful cathedrals in the region and Macaw Mountain Bird Park — home to over 300 birds native to Honduras. The town has preserved its colonial and neoclassical architecture, making it one of the most picturesque towns in the region and holds a high reputation for the friendliness and hospitality that its people offer. Copán is also part of the Honduran Coffee Route, allowing easy access to tours of local coffee farms where visitors can enjoy a first-hand look at the coffee-making process of some of the best coffee in the world, from seed to cup.
