New GM for Fairmont Vancouver Airport

Rudi Heider is the new general manager at Fairmont Vancouver Airport. Heider brings a dynamic blend of leadership, global perspective, and hospitality excellence to one of Canada’s most celebrated airport hotels.

Born and raised in Germany, he began his hospitality journey as a server at the Four Seasons in Berlin where he was driven by the energy, teamwork, and meaningful connections in the industry. A seasoned hotelier, he has successfully led teams across international borders, earning both regional and global recognition.

Before joining Fairmont Vancouver Airport, he served as director of operations at Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise where he continued to elevate guest experiences and operational excellence at one of Canada’s most renowned resorts. In this capacity, he was responsible for overseeing daily operations, enhancing service standards, and implementing strategic initiatives that improved both the guest experience and overall efficiency. His leadership at the resort further solidified his reputation for operational excellence and his commitment to fostering a positive, collaborative workplace culture.

His leadership style, shaped by mentors who modeled humility, consistency, and a deep sense of purpose, focuses on empowering teams to work in perfect harmony, much like a well-conducted symphony.

“Creating memorable, even life-changing, guest experiences have always been my greatest motivation,” he said. “Every day in hospitality offers something new, and I’m excited to lead a team that makes the impossible feel effortless”.

Relocated to Vancouver, he and his family are enjoying the West Coast for its natural beauty, lifestyle, and exceptional quality of life. In his spare time, he enjoys skiing, tennis, cooking, and long walks in Pacific Spirit Park with his wife and their dog, Spätzle.
