Kalido House Hotels announced the opening of Block House, the only hotel in the historic Vancouver Gastown district and steps from the waterfront and Chinatown.
Situated at the edge of Gastown at Columbia and Powell, Block House offers guests the rare opportunity to stay inside one of the city’s earliest commercial developments. Restoration began in early 2026, transforming the top three floors into 19 loft-style apartments that honours the structure’s heritage while introducing modern hospitality design.
The announcement marks the evolution of Kalido House Hotels’ growing portfolio of “house hotels,” following the success of its first two aparthotel concepts, Smithe House and Keefer House. The new brand identity reflects a broader shift in traveller preferences toward apartment-style stays that prioritize space, flexibility, and residential comfort without sacrificing boutique design and service.
